KPABARTO2

Its windy here. Last year it was windy enough to loosen some of our siding on the north wall. Neighbors have lost shingles. Opening a car door can sometimes be a real challenge.

Being a measurement kind of guy, I wanted to know just how windy. So I asked Santa for an anemometer. Santa being the generous person she is, I was able to open a WMR968 wireless weather station Christmas morning. This is a complete weather station in a box, and included information on how to set up a PWS (Personal Weather Station) for Weather Underground (no, not that weather underground) dot com. So, the name of my station is KPABARTO2, and as you can see from the picture it is currently set up a few steps from my back door. You can get a summary of my information from the link on the left called "Very Local Weather". The full station readout can be found here.

I was asked about getting ceiling height for a complete METAR, but the LIDAR looks to be a little bit out of my budget right now. I also have to guess at visibility by looking across the valley, still I think I have more complete information then that provided at 7N8. Always on the lookout to improve my data, I've decided to install one of these to improve the timeliness of my data uploads.
