"The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne."

Just kind of kicking back this holiday weekend. It has been rather turbulent at home and at work, so it was time to unwind a bit and take a 'mini vacation'. That means I needed to spend some time with my tools and forget about 'man made global warming', the price of gas, and the latest pontifications from our soon to be president elect.

The master bath in this house doesn't have a vanity that allows my wife to sit down and fard. We all know that women spend a lot of time farding and need a comfortable place to sit and do it. She had been doing it on the bed and the noxious fumes just became over powering. So I decided to make a small vanity for her in the bathroom. The tricky part is utilizing the tiny unconventional space in a room that is already a little tight.

The base is complete, made of red oak to match the existing cabinetry and I'm working on the counter top now. I've made two hardboard templates so far, and the latest can be scribed to the wall for a near perfect fit. Then I can trace that form to counter top material and be assured that it will fit properly. Sanding, staining, and finishing still have yet to be completed.

Wishing all a glorious Independence Day.
