Adult Beverages

I spent the weekend in my garage/workshop enhancing the liquor cabinet I purchased from Overstock.com. The first major task was dissembling the piece. The original molding was removed, actually sawed off, to make way for some new crown molding. I wanted to practice using my new tools and old techniques to insure I could install crown molding(s) in other locations around the house. I also took apart the sliding doors to get access to all of the wooden parts. Next came painting. A little detail type spray gun was perfect for this. It did take some time to learn about settings, viscosity and such, but overall I am very pleased with the results.

Then came assembly. I had recycled the top from a piece I had previously built in Georgia, and refinished it a deeper tone to match the existing wine cabinet. Not perfect, but a close match. (Gel Stain.) I also added some corbels to give this massive cabinet the illusion that it was built into the wall. In reality, the corbels are just polyurethane decorative building materials.

Finally it was just a simple matter of attaching this eleven ton behemoth to the wall. (I used some really big screws...and a stud finder.)
