Excavation

I left the house at 6:30 worried that I might be late and arrived at the site at precisely 7:00 AM. All was quiet. The backhoe was there, but nobody was around to start it up. I was afraid that the PM was going to arrive in his pickup truck and tell me that yet another bureaucracy problem would delay the dig again. I got a call about 8:00 from my Dad, saying he was on his way down, so I sipped my coffee and waited. Finally, by 9:00 things started happening. All of the measurements were fine tuned and validated with a laser level. At 9:30 the first shovel went into the dirt. By 12:30 he had smoothed out the berm and was moving on to his next job. Day One of the build!
