Just an old truck

I had decided that I no longer needed the 4WD capability the old Blazer provided, but really needed some A/C now that I was living near "Hot-Lanta". The persistent check engine light forced the decision, so in May of '96 I drove the 'teal' painted pick-up off the lot and brought her home. It was not a big hit. The wife didn't like the color, the manual transmission or the lack of any rear seating, but its missions wasn't to carry kids to soccer practice or dance recitals, this truck was built for weekly runs to Home Depot. It made a few of those.

It also made a few runs to the tool rental place to tow home log splitters, wood chippers and such. It hauled home 2x4s for finishing the basement, sheet rock for the walls, pressure treated wood for the deck and all kinds of other loads. Its good to have a truck.

My son learned to drive the stick shift. It became his car for school, and while he cursed it for being too hot (the a/c had failed years earlier) it was better then riding the bus. It was perfect for him to haul his drum set to local gigs. It carried him to far away places for summer jobs and brought him home safely.

It carried the last of our household goods from Georgia to Pennsylvania. While I drove the Penske truck my wife followed behind in the overloaded S10, steaming in the hot May weather for the 800+ miles to our new home, or at least the storage unit. The truck would be used many times to furnish this new place.

147,850+ miles. Yesterday we traded it in. Farewell good and faithful old beast. You served us well.

Hello Suzzi!
