Memorial Day Weekend 2009

My wife had organized a "Tea" for the Ladies. She made some fancy RSVP type formal invitations and sent them out to her Mom, Aunts, my Mom and Daughter, and made the arrangements to drive them to a local tea room. Frilly decor and feminine fare, this was not something I was interested in.

Instead, I had a "Man Lunch". My daughter's friend, Uncle Curly and my Dad met while the women were away and we fired up the Weber. NY Strip Steaks, potatoes, corn on the cob and beer were the order of the day. The jewel of the afternoon was listening to the two WWII vets talking about their time, mostly about training and Shore Patrol Duty, the screw ups, the good times...nothing about the hard times or the ugly part of the war.

...and then it was done. The women came back. The Vets found their canes hanging on the backs of the chairs and left. It was a good lunch, and the food wasn't bad either.

The ladies need their time just like the guys......It sounds like the "Man Lunch" was perfect, good food and some great stories. I can almost hear the Tim Allen tool time grunt.
